Yesterday was Walpurgis eve. Apparently most of Sweden lights huge bonfires to celebrate (and burn up old unwanted doors, fencing, branches, etc...), but not around these parts (originally these fires were used to scare away predators when the farm animals were let out to graze after a long winter indoors). However, we did get a big parade put on by students from Chalmers (the local technical university) with floats that make fun of current events. Today's holiday is either for sleeping off your hangover, or participating in May Day demonstrations.
We met some funny Norwegians along the parade route, one of whom was trying to pass as a Texan:
