How do they plan it so well?

Yesterday, my cell phone worked fine. Today, five of the keypad buttons do not work, one of them being the all important 'call' button. I did not drop the phone, or get it wet, or anything--it just sat on the dresser all night. So anyway, I checked the warranty and guess when it expired: 25 August 2009. Figures.
