The Swedish archipelago in the spring. Doesn't get much better than this.
Ok, fine, we'll take this shack off your hands. No need to twist my arm.
A nice spot for a picnic (that's us & Ali's mom).
What is this?
Answer to last week: Katrina, I can't believe you got it--have you been using one? Yes, that was a unrinal (pissoar in Swedish) of the port-o-potty variety. The guys just walk right up and go. These were set up in the forest for that half-marathon. It was hard for me to get this photo without looking like a freak:
Hard to believe, but it's been two years since we said I do.
No, he's not sleeping.
One event we're missing in Wisconsin this weekend: Bratfest. Delicious, cheap (and healthy,of course) brats cooked on the world's largest grill.
I want to turn our balcony into a garden, starting with this lovely tomato plant. At last count 7 tomatoes were making an appearance...

Answer to last week: That was the inside of an umbrella on a rainy day:
There's a really good little crepe place in Gothenburg. The French man in the box makes all sorts of sweet & savory crepes. He's open till 3:30am on weekends.
This time it was ham & cheese for me and spinach & cheese for Ali.
Yesterday was the half-marathon (21k) here in Gothenburg, with more than 45,000 runners. While we did not participate, we did walk over 15k all around the city!
Here is the loop around the statue of Poseidon:
Some hairy bystanders:
Trash cans full of Gatorade-like liquid:
Here are a couple of firemen that ran the whole thing in their gear. Very impressive:
Some people dress up in funny outfits, like this guy in a bunny costume:

Answer to last week: That was part of one of the fanciest flowers I've ever seen that was NOT in a botanical garden. It was at the local garden shop being sold to go in your home.
Check it out from the side:
Now I have to share my birthday with two fuzzy little creatures. The moose at our local zoo had two brand new babies last week.
What is this?
Answer to last week: Those were indeed frog eggs. The little black things were squiggly tadpoles.
Somebody had fun and made little creatures out in the woods. One of them looks just like Ali.
All the bizarre vehicles came out for Spring Scrutineering.

After a long winter in the barn, the dairy cows were very excited to be let out into the pasture.

Jeremiah Josef Caimares showed up in the Bronx and we became Aunt & Uncle again. Congrats Debbie & Ambi!
Yesterday was Walpurgis eve. Apparently most of Sweden lights huge bonfires to celebrate (and burn up old unwanted doors, fencing, branches, etc...), but not around these parts (originally these fires were used to scare away predators when the farm animals were let out to graze after a long winter indoors). However, we did get a big parade put on by students from Chalmers (the local technical university) with floats that make fun of current events. Today's holiday is either for sleeping off your hangover, or participating in May Day demonstrations.
We met some funny Norwegians along the parade route, one of whom was trying to pass as a Texan:
