Perfect pancakes on a sunny Saturday morning.

What is this?

Answer to last week: Nope, not fur--that was some weird vegetation growing in the seawater pool among the rocks.

Mmmmm....salty.
Official time: 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 25 seconds. Next year we shoot for under an hour.
Tonight, we're running a 10K through the streets of Göteborg. Our start group takes off at 10:15pm.

What is this?

Answer to last week: That was the inside to one of the red and green striped tomatoes. They were pretty darn good, by the way. I never really paid attention to the taste of tomatoes before, but now I have a whole new appreciation. Still, they weren't no Chubby Hubby or New York Super Fudge Chunk!

We saw some pretty good street performers this week, including a guy who juggled knives and fire blindfolded while riding a 3 meter tall unicycle (and he also swallowed a sword), and a woman who could spin 5 hula-hoops at once while standing on her friends shoulders.

Both of these acts were from Australia. What do they put in the water down there?!
Despite the forecast of rain, rain, and more rain, we ended up with a fabulously sunny day. So we headed out to the coast for possibly the last time this season. Stephan and Lotta took us out to their favorite island for the afternoon. The water was c-c-cold, so jumping in from the rocks was the only way to go.
It's time for Göteborgskalaset, a week long culture/activity party in town.

We saw a really strange boat in the downtown harbor. Very homemade. Very peculiar. Not sure if it's sea worthy, but it got there somehow.

Wednesday evening dinner in a basement Irish pub while it rained like hell.

What is this?

Answer to last week: That was the nasty tire from a really old bicycle in a museum we went to on our vacation:

The view from our bedroom window. Makes me wanna eat Lucky Charms.

The grocery store had a wide variety of interesting-looking, colorful, Swedish tomatoes for sale, so we thought we'd try a few. What you see is about $8 worth. They better taste good--I could have gotten a pint of Ben & Jerry's for that price!

Sometimes people do strange things. Just because they can.

We submit this as photographic evidence that Tim is a quiet little boy who likes to lay on the couch and ponder his own existence. We deny any and all claims that he is constantly running, talking, crashing etc... and can't sit still for a second.

What is this?

Answer to last week: How did you guys know?! I'd never seen one of these before, but it was fun:

This trampoline thing was in Denmark. For more pictures of our time there, go here.
Some pictures from Wheels n' wings, one of Sweden's biggest motor meets. The locals were easily as interesting as the vehicles.
Lots more pictures here.

On the way back from Gotland, we visited the 'glasriket,' the area in Sweden where glass is still hand blown.

More pictures from the glasriket and all of the pictures from Gotland are now on the Travels page.
We've now been in Sweden exactly one year. So far so good. We celebrated the occasion by:
Picking the red currants in our yard,

going for a bike ride through the forest,

and finding a nice place to swim.

We also managed to leave a beer in the freezer all night, but that was an accident.
