No new pictures from Sweden today, but one of our favorites: Grampa Hans & Jeremiah Josef in Elmont.
We've hardly had any sun at all lately, so I thought I'd post these photos from earlier this winter to cheer me up.
Yesterday we woke up to loud thunder and the kind of snow where the flakes all clump together in huge clusters. This picture makes it look like it was rather violent due to the long exposure, but actually it was falling quite peacefully. It didn't take long to turn to rain, but it was fun while it lasted.
A frozen beard on the ski lift in Trysil, Norway.
Pine needles sound funny when they burn.
It's the 20th day after Christmas, so it's time to throw out the tree. Or at least chop it into bits with a Leatherman while wearing long johns and an oven mitt.
We went for a long walk on Saturday. With the temperatures hovering just above zero, the water on the local lake is starting to melt, but there is enough ice underneath so it kinda feels like you can walk on water. Or, in Leo's case, dance.
An Erithacus rubecula on the shore of a mostly frozen Härlanda Tjärn.
After an additional 2 nights and 1 day well below freezing, Härlanda Tjärn is properly frozen and the whole neighborhood knows it.
Svart Tjärn was also frozen and had kids playing hockey on it, but made scary cracking noises so we didn't stay there too long.
My first attempt at making Swedish pancakes with whipped cream and lingon berries. Not bad!
A cold sunny Saturday ride around Lilla Delsjön.
Sledding in Säfsen with the Rogers; the hill was just a short walk from the cabin we rented.
We partied like 2 year olds on New Years Eve.
Ice skating on the little lake close to our house. We keep finding more and more things we can do within walking distance of home.
