We've got some cleaning up to do, but nothing is damaged. Maybe buying a house up on a little hill wasn't such a bad move.
This is why we were without power for about 16 hours (down the street).
Around the corner.
Downtown Tappan.
Small fire from a downed wire.
Getting rid of the carpets.
Various shots in Northvale & Piermont.
If you ever want to do something really fun, try to convince your son to stay inside and eat his vegetables while there is a fire truck parked in front of the house. They were helping our neighbors pump out the basement. We've got more pictures from the storm that we'll post soon.
Mr. Maximillian can be VERY particular about small things, like who sits where (including his stuffed animals), how something should be placed/held/eaten, what shoes he/we should wear, what food is a necessity today (even if it was the worst thing in the world yesterday), etc...
On this particular occasion he would ONLY eat his snack while sitting in the driveway in front of the car- no place else would do.
This is Maximillian discovering that he could watch himself live with the iPad's front camera. He also demonstrates an interesting way to drink his milk.
The Sprite's interior got a freshening up.
Side & vent windows removed (didn't see much need for side windows on a car with no top).
Low back racing buckets, aluminum fire extinguisher behind the passenger seat. (It's British, full of flammable liquids and has an ignition source. What could go wrong?)
Riveted mahogy wheel with polished aluminum center. Shift knob refinished to match the wheel.
Our power went out during a massive thunderstorm last night. The power company estimated it would be out for nearly 5 hours, but it ended up being only 45 minutes.
Maximillian just loves his blueberries and milk.
It's been raining for 24 straight hours...and Maximillian just loves it.
Listen carefully and you'll hear Max say 'up' and 'grus' (gravel).
Maximillian walked ever so carefully so that he wouldn't spill his snack...until he got distracted by the car.
Maximillian points out that his PV lost a wheel.
Maximillian has had full command of the word "owie" (ouch) for quite some time now. Sometimes he feigns injury just to use the word.
Mr. Maximillian now has his own shed where he keeps his bike, wagon, stroller, etc...
Lots of family members contributed.
Bryan & Alexa each got a ride in the Sprite, even if they couldn't see much.
Bryan built a birdhouse from scraps of ship lap siding we used on the basement ceiling. Let's see if we get a tenant.
7 hours total at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck and my knee-bubble is gone. At least I think it is, can't take the brace off till Monday.
Getting ready for the operation:
Just before discharge:
Max's Californian Cousins we here for a visit yesterday. More pictures to come.
We let Maximillian try some red velvet cake. He wanted More more more more more.....
Watch it once to see Max. Then watch it a second time and look at the lady in the background who made sleeves out of napkins to cover her chilly arms (seriously, she did). She took them off when her food came, then put them back on after eating.
My left knee suddenly blew up like a balloon. The orthopedic surgeon sucked some nasty stuff out of it with a big fat needle but it's on the rise again so he's probably going to chop into it and take a look. He thinks it's Prepatellar Bursitis, not dangerous if taken care of. 2011 is our year for surgery.
Mr. Max Man has been riding his balance bike around the neighborhood for about 6 weeks now, so it was high time for his first real off-road ride. He's a natural.
Bockstensturen here we come.
